Folks,
I was wondering if anyone has seen any really interesting designs for window casing. I would love to install curly maple casing in my house, but want something other than a traditional or typical casing design (like colonial casing for example). For example, a couple months back, Fine Woodworking had an article on Sam Maloof’s house, and it showed some casing in his house. The wood was plain (probably Fir), and the verticle piece was dovetailed into the piece that ran along the top of the window. Very simple and interesting. Sometimes I am lacking in creativity, so I am looking to those of you who are more creative for suggestions.
Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.
Doug

Try Taunton's "Finish Carpentry" and "Trim Carpentry and Built-Ins". Both have good ideas for window trim. I had a customer pick out one from these books last month. The casing and sill was comprised of 17 pieces of wood.
It was a good challenge.
