Interior Corner with Vinyl Shingles
The builder offered the owner a chunk of money to use vinyl trim instead of the Azek trim called for in the drawings. Anyone have an idea of how to fix this? The shingles are Royal Design vinyl shingles. This view is looking up at the soffit.

Disassemble whats there till you can put your corner in. Remember you'll have to make it like j-channel so when you replace the siding it'll have both the coverage needed for expansion and the "flashing" needed at the back side to "hopefully' channel water down and out. Reinstall the siding and anything else necessary to finish the job.
Never a fan of j-channel and it's "hope" to both drain and prevent water from getting behind vinyl siding. When I"ve been asked to use it or similar, I've used a compatible peal and stick membrane to seal it against the sheeting, running the house wrap over that.
Vertical J isn't near as bad as wrapping a window with it (the horizontal) and calling it done. The day you see a sider include that in the "rainscreen" detail is the day you've found someone who both knows and cares.
