I have a definate sense of taste, I know what I like and I don’t like. However I want to put it all together in each room and across the house. I’m familiar with the color wheel ect.. But how do I put everything together?
Basically, I would like some advice on interior decorating books that focus on putting colors, materials, textures, ect together. Helping me to fill in the area around the elements that I KNOW that I want.
Say I know what color walls I want in a room and the level of formality; something to help guide the selection of flooring and furniture colors and light fixtures would be what I am looking for.

I can't tell from your post whether you're beginning from scratch as far as furniture and decorative items go? Most of my belongings were either handed down from past generations or were auction finds. Some even from the curb-side. If you stay true to what your likes are as far as style, color, etc. you don't need to worry about whether it will all blend. I have furniture both hundreds of years old, as well as 1 year old. Your taste most likely doesn't cover the entire color spectrum. I would see what your belongings are, then choose paint or wallpaper. I picked up a soft sage green that was a common color in some throw pillows and my recliner (not planned, just happened that way) and the walls are now a true compliment to the furniture within. Can't recommend a specific book in this matter. Go with your eye. Good luck!
I really like Lynette Jennings idea of picking out an inspiration piece of fabric/object of colors.
Find a object, be it a piece of fabric, painting, picture that really reaches out grabs your attention. You love it, you don't know why, but to you, it feels right.
Then take the colors separately off that object and spread them thoughout the room/house.
Simple and it works.
