interior/exterior footing drains
my excavation guy suggested tying interior footing drains into the exterior footing drains.i’ve heard this can lead to problems if the drain to daylight backs up.given that both drain tiles are at the same elevation,is there a solution to this? thanks

It can be done, but for the reasons you state, I try to avoid it whenever possible.

As I understand it you have to install an anti back flow valve.
Let's not confuse the issue with facts!
Where I live, our local BI's require "crossovers" in the footing. One of them explained it this way: If a drain gets blocked, then the water can bypass the blockage by going to the interior footing drain and then back out. I didn't come up with this, this is what I was told.
Seems to me, if your daylight drain does get blocked, you are in trouble anyway as water will build up on the outside of your foundation and will make it inside. If you did tie the two together, and you install a sump pit/pump, wouldn't water then have two ways to get out of there?
