Hi everyone. We’re redoing the whole kitchen, and after pulling out the old cabinets there is a nice edge of paint all around where the cabinets were. The new cabinets will cover a lot of this, but some areas it won’t. What is the best way to get rid of the paint edge from the two coats of paint that were applied around the cabinets so it is not noticed once the new paint is applied. The new paint will be dark, and will show almost any flaws.
Thanks,
Ryan

sand the line, skim coat with compound if necessary.

I think total invisibility will be very hard to achieve. You may have to accept some minor imperfections. Paint does not sand as easily as the wall underneath it.
Having said that, try this:
A paint scraper may work a better than sanding, but try both. For smoothing over small areas like this, joint compound should work fine. Use many thin layers to avoid build-up. I've found that, Spackle (notice the capital "S") is easier to work than joint compound. Feather out to either side at least 6".
