We’re about ready for the installation of the interior radiant floor heat systems in our current new construction project. PEX tubing will be stapled down to 3/4 T&G plywood floor, and will be covered by ~1 1/2 inches of lightweight concrete, and an additional layer of 3/4 plywood will be installed for the final sub floor. What’s the best sequence of events here? Should the tubing and concrete be done before insulation and sheet rock? After insulation and before sheet rock? After insulation and finished sheet rock? My vote was for between insulation and sheet rock because the insulation will be done, and the plastic vapor barriers will be on the walls to protect them. Any cementitious residues left on the plastic will be simply covered by the sheetrock. A co-worker thinks it should be done later, after sheetrock. Any suggestions and or theories? I know the stuff’s going to be a mess, and I know the sheetrock will be thrashed from the pumper hose, etc.
