Hi, I am new to this forum .I need a help with my home renovation.I’m thinking of removing a load bearing wall that is separating my living room from my kitchen. My home was built in the 70’s and the wall that would be removed has the kitchen plumbing in it.What all safety precautions should i take before demolition of an interior wall. I found Some Company online who provides this service. Now I’m only looking for a rough estimate for what this would cost. Please help me. Thank you.

The procedure is straight-forward (sorta):
Support -- The area overhead needs to be temporarily supported somehow
Demolish -- Tear out the existing structure
Reroute -- Reroute the plummbing and electric
Reconstruct -- Replace temporary support with permanent, and replace disturbed surfaces
Unfortunately, for the process of estimation, all of these steps can either be quite straight-forward or incredibly difficult and complex, depending on the individual circumstances. Even to get a crude estimate you need to have some construction skills.
1. You should have a structural plan in place to safely accomodate the load currently being carried by your existing load bearing wall once it is removed. Preferrably that would provided by a professional engineer.
2. You should also be aware that any home built prior to 1978 it may contain lead based finishes. If your project qualifies as presenting such a health threat, then contractorst you hire may be required to follow EPA lead safe renovation protocols (RRP) in order to protect you and your family during the remodeling process. You may want to read the Renovate Right broschure published by the EPA prior to starting your project.
Cost? Very funny. Though some will undoubtably try, you won't get a reliable estimate on this forum. Solicte proposals from professional contractors working in your area for accurate estimates.
