Computer rebooting on its own every few minutes, good scan with Norton Utilities, gonna wipe it and full restore. Computer only 6 months old. Internet, what a double-edged sword.
Hope to catch you guys sooner rather than later.

I don't know too much, but how about a spyware scan first?
I think that's what gave me problems in the first place. I bought Spy Sweeper, installed it, performed a sweep, and got nothing. After uninstallation, the computer kept auto rebooting. I'm back now, though I forgot to back up all my saved favorites. Gotta go, no virus protection at this point of the restoration.
I never met a tool I didn't like!
I had to erase and rebuild my c drive recently... nice to get a fresh start
Back from the oblivion, and it only took about 8 hours to restore and reload, minus all the favorites I had but now have to accumulate again. Chief Acrchitect was a bit of a pain because the hardware lock supplied by Alladdin failed due to a software update from MS, but tech support walked me thru installing the new drivers.
You saying you think Webroot Spy Sweeper caused the problem? Please give more detail.
I'd read about a virus that does that reboot thing you mentioned.Eenie,weenie...chili-beanie
I don't know, the problem happened after I install Chief and Spy Sweeper, so I don't know if either one is to blame, or neither. Coincidence maybe. I'd like to think I cured it, but with everything loaded again, I was in MS Word when it locked up, just like before I rebuilt the computer. Someone told me last night that Norton antivirus isn't very program friendly, so maybe I'll look into another AV protection. This is my 4th laptop - 2 Toshibas, 2 Compaqs - and they all have been a very large PIA. Meanwhile, the kids e-machine just sits and hums away. Ah well, I had nothing better to do with my day, right?

Oh,
a laptop. Been mulling one for a year now.
Always hear of problems.
