I’m adding a large 3,ooo sf deck in maryland with ipe deck boards and want to use the ipe clip system. I heard from a friend in colorado that he used a similar system and the whole system failed within a year, and the deck had to be redone. Anybody have any experience with ipe and clip systems? Anybody have any recommendations or experience with these kinds of systems?

Smaller deck but we clipped it 2 years ago and it's fine. I hope there isn't cold weather failure as I just talked a friend into using them in northern Maine.
I'm in the process of finishing my first time using Ipe on a deck, a small one at 220 sqft, using TigerClaw 120's with 4/4 x 6 material. From what I've read there were some issues with the original Ipe Clips made from plastic but they now have an upgraded version with a stainless steel insert to make them stronger. I liked the TigerClaw version better since it was all stainless and I did not have to drill through the Ipe to install the clips.
There's a lot of stories out there about all different experiences but someone here will show up who has a few years under his belt with Ipe.
I ended up using all stainless fasteners and hangers for this deck.
I wouldn't take Ipe clips as a gift. I'm willing to concede that I think it's a function of heat but both decks I've done with clips have looked horrible 6 months later. Portions of both these decks that remained in the shade don't look bad but the sunny parts moved too much. The only deck clip I would use would be the Tiger Claw. It's all stainless and the clip and screw both are tight to the framing.
I've used Eb-Ty with success and have had no problems
I like the Deck Master system. Especially if you have decent access to the underside fo the deck for any repairs that may be needed down the line.

Everything fits, until you put glue on it.
