We want to glue our Ipe decking to the joists (16″ OC). Will be screwing from underneath every 2nd or third joist. They used this method on TOH a while back with a “marine grade adhesive”. What’s a good adhesive to use when the deck/porch (750 sq. ft.) is covered? HD has a marine adhesive for $12/10 oz tube, kind of pricey. Are there alternatives? Thanks a lot.

Check out the current edition of FineHomeBuilding (May 2006) page 78 for a discussion and comparison of many concealed deck board fasteners. On line or at a local bookstore or retailer's magazine rack.
All the information that you really need at a cost less than the price of the first tube of marine adhesive! :>)
