I finally bit the bullet and got a hitachi 65MA2 nail gun (and it is soooo sweet) and I need to get some oil for it, I know that hitachi makes oil, as does all the other gun makers…
can one use any Nail gun oil in any brand gun or is it brand specific?

You should be able to use any 30-wt non-detergent oil for the tools (according to my Mentor; a crusty old ex-Air Force flight-line maintenance guy). He also told me to Marvel AIR TOOL Oil (not "Mystery" Oil in the tools.
The Marvel is right in line (price-wise) with the others. I found it at a True-Value and it appears to live up to his reasoning (about O-Ring maintenance etc etc.)

You left out the part about the Mormons and the illegal aliens undercutting the legitimate tool oil vendors.
I have Paslode, Hitachi, Dewalt and Bostich guns and use the same oil on all of them. No matter where I've bought gun oil from whether it was where I buy my tools, Home Depot or Sears it's all the same.
I agree that any oil (sold for nail guns) will work in any brand of gun.
However, last winter I was building wheel chair ramps in cold weather (10-20 degrees), and the Bostich framer stops working.
Took it in, first thing the service guy asks is if I'm using "cold weather oil." Switched oils, problem solved.
