We’ve had great difficulty getting 5.8 GHz portable phones to work in our house in more than a fairly limited area. Distance is one factor, and so is existing plaster on wire lath walls, along with a home wireless network and other RF electronics (Universal A/V Remote for one).
Has anyone had any direct experience with portable phones working better / better range by changing to the DECT 6.0 standard phones?
Thanks in advance –
Jeff

Well, ny old Bell South cordless finally went wobbly, so it was replaced with a Panasonic DECT 6.0
Been painless so far. No stray noises, buzzing or the like. No interference with the 801.G in the house, or vice versa. Much nicer range in that there is less degredation of signal, too.
The Panasonic I chose (kx-tg6411T) has very nice ergonomics, cellphone like, not "cordless phone" like. Will store 50 numbers in a "blocked call" list; when CID kicks in, no ring after that. Has a setting to not even pick up "Unavailable" CID calls, too. Decent phone book, you get 6 rings you can assign to numbers, so you can give in-laws a different ring than friends or the like.
Ok, black buttons on black, above the lit controls is a tad odd, but they had to pick something--my only gripe.
Thanks CM - anyone else?Jeff
