Is it feasible to change the record of my house in government department?
Few people understand it. Nobody agrees what it is, how to learn about it, or who's responsible for it. It has never been more important

Why do you want to change the records? One thing that could happen is that your taxes will go up. Always be careful not to rock the boat.
I just don't want be catch by the troubles in the future
If goverment found the records are different with the fact of my house, they possibly will bring a trouble to me.....
If I need to sell the house, some buyes will ask me the same questions......
Tax assement records
I am going to repeat others, WHY?????, I served for many years on our city's tax review board, it's happened often that a complaint was made that on the assement a deck, shed, pool, ect was recorded but was removed. The homeowner asked for it to be removed on the city assement records, all was needed was a verification by the assesor and the tax assent was refigured accordingly, sometimes it reduced the tax by a few $$. But I have never seen someone asking to add to the record!!!
It's like asking someone to shoot you!!!!
What the city assement records show has very little to what the value of your houe is at the time of sale. That's an appraisal's job. Don't wake a sleeping giant!!!
Thanks. How much tax will be increased by adding these?
If the house informaiton in government change from 2.25 bathroom and 2fireplaces to 2.5 bathroom and 3 fireplace, do you think how much tax will be increased per year?
The changes you are talking about are so insignificant that I doubt it changes you tax bill at all. I doubt they even care. If I was going to correct a record, I would be sure my insurance company knew about the extra fireplace.
What is the difference between a 1/2 bath and a 1/4 bath? A sink? I am an electrical inspector, If it doesn't have a sink it isn't even a bathroom.
I'd suggest that (from a pay phone) you call the assessor's office and ask them if it's an issue.
Ah, now that is a real life professional answer obviously from a very experienced old timer. However, finding a pay phone these days may not be that easy. Heck, lily88 may never ever heard of pay phones. :>) It's getting harder and harder to be annonymous.
The goverment
By the tone of your post your more in to proving the "goverment" wrong. Let it die!!!!!
The assesor and the board of review would think your nuts if this came before them!!
Anybody who has looked at more than a few government records should realize that they are not accurate. Don't waste your time.
