It's a decent price. Especially with the stand thrown in. I bought that saw last year for full price and have come to have some reservations about it.
1. It doesn't discharge sawdust very well after a cut. You constantly have to clean out the fence area so your material will sit flat to the fence and table to get accurate cuts. And the dust bag is totally useless.
2. It's dam heavy.
3. The laser gizmos is ####.
4. Can't get it to adjust into absolutely square. always out just slightly.
5. It's dam heavy
and did I mention it's heavy?
Shop around a bit before you soak yer bucks into it.

Thanks BjR, any recommendations and other saws for a diy'er like myself?
It'd probably be more than fine for a DIY'r. It's a nice overall saw and set up. But as a contractor doing a lot of high end, stain grade finish work and often have to pack it some distances and up stairs and such I was a little underwhelmed for what I paid for my set up.

What the heck? It's the lightest 12" slider available at 53lbs, plus, it's got the smallest footprint of any of them. You have a problem moving the Dewalt around, try the Bosch which is closer to 70lbs and a lot bigger dimensions. The Bosch 12" slider is an aircraft carrier compared to the Dewalt. As far as adjustments, I've found it offers a very easy way to adjust with all of the angles, can't say I've had any problems squaring mine - although some may say maybe I'm just cutting all my stuff wrong and don't know it...The laser is great when it's set, but what a PAIN to set it and it does not stay set after moving the saw around very much. But I was glad to have the laser when cutting stain grade maple stringer riser bevels with it.Julian
That thing is a beast!
The most versatile and easy to move & use saw I have ever experienced is the 8.5" Hitachi slider.

When we get a bunch of diff guys sharing saws, that is the one most guys gravitate to using. It is a little sweetheart.

I saw my first one at a commercial jobsite. The carp was doing trim and I borrowed to make a few cuts. I bought one online that very night..

I have the Makita 1214 and would buy another one. People like the Dewalt saws too.
With the stand its a decent price. I use mine for stairwork and trim. It's the lightest and most compact 12" slider on the market.
It also has the largest cutting capacity of any 12" slider. Dust collection sucks so I bought a $4 broom.
The beauty of the DeWalt miter saw is the ease they are set to true zero. 4 screws on the deck adjusts the miter detents. Almost every other saw on the market requires a hit and miss adjustment of the fence.
I have 2 12" sliders, a 12" dbl bevel and a 10" DeWalt. I have used the Hitachi and Makita sliders but prefer the DeWalt. I find it more comfortable to use and the scales easier to read.
