is this junction box legal?
today i take down a medicine cabinet and find that someone has extended the wires up to a new light,2 wires twisted and taped.
so i need to get these in a junction box,but for someone to get to it someday they would have to remove the medicine cabinet to access it. would that be a legal box,it’s accessible,if you know it’s there…….. larry
if a man speaks in the forest, and there’s not a woman to hear him,is he still wrong?

That's better than just dropped into a stud bay, but I doubt if any inspector would call it "accessable". - lol
If the wires are always hot, and not a switch leg, can you put a receptacle next to the medicine cabinet?
If not, can a light switch be installed?

Klakamp Construction, Findlay, Ohio - just south of the Glass City
thats a idea, the switch is in a bad spot anyway,i'll do a little checking.larryif a man speaks in the forest, and there's not a woman to hear him,is he still wrong?
Eric, care to take this one!
Too funny. Maybe I'll start my conduit campaign again.
I see your memory is working well!

Cut a junction box into the side of the med cab - maybe an outlet inside? (I always put outlets inside large med cabs for razors, toothbrushes, etc.

Technically, you can install a junction box behind the cabinet so long as the cabinet is removable -- screwed in, not caulked in place, etc.
