another electrical querry … anyone have a favorite/novel way of doing electrical outlets for kitchen island counters? I’d love to avoid cords over the edge.
thanks – Roy

Well if you don't want cords over the side you can always install Tombstone receptacles.
Or if you have a high bar, lower island, then you can mount them in the small backsplashe.

Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
Also there are some pop-up receptacles that are designed for desk and media centers.
Here is what I am talking about.

BUT VERIFY THAT THE INSPECTOR WILL ACCEPT THESE. Face up receptacles aren't allowed because of water. And the inspector could claim that these have the same problem.

You can also put a hole in the counter top large enough for the plug end to fit through with the outlet underneith in a cabinet.

My wife loves the idea - would there be any problems getting it past the building inspector?
Kitchen Power Grommet - PCS34.
"would there be any problems getting it past the building inspector?"I would probably check with them before betting the farm on it. The Mockett web page said that it is UL listed but didn't say what spec. It could quite easily be a UL listed plug strip and not fly with your inspector. Since islands are such a PITA to put small appliance outlets on I hope they would give you a little latitude.
