Does anyone have any experience with the Johnson Acculine Pro series laser level? ( model 40 – 6660)
I am very fond of the Johnson Box beam spirit levels which will go toe to toe against Stabila both for accuracy and offering the lifetime warranty. But I need a good laser level and wonder if these step up to the mark as well?

I'm not sure which Johnson laser level I have. But it was cheap. $50.00 for two different types in a case.
The only thing that I have really used it was to establish level all the way around the room (maybe 12 x 20) for a suspended ceiling. As I recall, every time it went around the corner the line didn't line up by an eighth of an inch or so. The error was small enough that after the cheat the ceiling looks great! Saved me a ton of time.
I've used it a couple of times since and it has worked fine. Pretty quick set up.
For fifty bucks (a year and a half ago), it's great.

thanks for feed back..
I've seen seen the one you have...the one I'm looking at it is $800 CND.
accuracy is stated at + - 3/8" over hundred feet. I'm wondering how that compares to some of the other big names. I know I've seen accuracy stated at +- 1/4" , but I can't remember if it was at 50' or 100' and I don't recall which brand or type it was.
I did a search but didn't find any threads on the Johnson levels.
I am also curious how the laser levels compare to the accuracy of builders levels. If anyone has an idea. One thing I favour with a builders level is looking at cross hairs seems a lot more precise then looking at a beam of light that gets bigger the farther away you get.
I do own a builders level, but have finally decided it is time to invest in a laser. I'll use it for all facets of construction and carpentry. and I know it has a big advantage when working solo.
I found the recent article in FHB not helpful as it was more geared to what type of laser to look for as opposed to a caparison of makes and models.
We've been briefly using the Johnson Acculine 4660. I haven't gotten to play with it for framing, but our finish carpenter loves it. It shoots a horiztal line, a vertical line (crosshairs), and then a line that is straight up. So you could use it to keep a reference line on the ceiling.
From the little bit I've played with it, it seems really really nice. Gary Katz recommended it to us and we are "trying" it out.
thanks for response....I like all lines it shoots. and it looks like it has a mini stand that would be ideal for quick squaring of floor layouts.
my biggest concer is accuracy over the larger distances. do you have any idea how lasers compare to optical levels for acruacry? and is 3/8" +- over 100' standard for lasers. I thought I saw one that was rated at 1/4" +- , but I don't recal over whjat distance.
I think you pay more for more accuracy. This works fine for what we do. That little tripod has adjustable legs so you can get close to level.
Our PLS5 is 1/4" in 100' and I don't remember what our DeWalt rotary is.
