I am considering purchasing either of these wood stoves.
Just curious as to anyone who has some personal experience with either of these units.
I am looking at heating around 700 square feet.
I like the size of the 602 but may be a little concerned with creating a hot/cold cycle since the firebox is rather small and may need more frequent tending.
On the other hand the 100 has a bigger firebox and will that one run me out of the house bringing it up to temp?
And how much, if any, soot/smoke is generated by these things when starting?
I know these questions are a little broad, but I am grateful for your help.
I have an 8″ clay lined flue with a 6″ thimble for the pipe. I think the previous owner used an oil or gas stove to heat the place when it was first built.
Lastly is there any maintenance needed for the stove? I know the flue and pipe will need to be cleaned periodically.
Thanks again.

I have a Jotul 602 in my house. It is a small ranch style house just under 1000 sf. The stove is in the corner of the house and it does a great job heating the house. It won't hold a fire overnight.
Hi Tony,I put a deposit on the Nordic 100. My wife saw the 602 and didn't care too much for the style. I liked it. She wanted to see a little more of the fire.I think it should work out well.By the way, how tall is your flue? Is it masonry or steel pipe? I was a little concerned that we have an 8" masonry flue that is only about 10' since we have a small ranch as well. I was told that a shorter flue of large diameter may not draw as well as a smaller diameter flue, therefore it may smoke some when starting a fire. I guess I will find out soon enough.Have you had yours for long?ThanksJ.P.http://www.jpkfinefurniture.com
Don't have experience with either but I've been looking at the 602. I'd only offer as advice, to look at the clearances to combustibles which can be problematic in small spaces.
