I’m currently finishing my basement and I have square three junction boxes that will either need to be moved or somehow changed so that I can put drywall over the area.
My first thought was to simply relocate the boxes to the an area of my basement with suspended ceiling to allow for access. This is a workable solution, albeit with a time investment…
The solution below would certainly save some work. However, as with everything, saving a little extra work sometimes means lots more work later (not to mention a potential code violation).
My questions is this: Can I change these junction boxes to rounds with covers that are flush with the drywall ceiling? Does this qualify as making the j-boxes “accessible”, even though the outside of the boxes really aren’t?
Thanks for the info!!!
Another thought….Maybe someone could explain the difference between a solid wire j-box installed in a wall or ceiling (illegal) and new work can lights with a built-in junction box with stranded wire and solid wire (legal or not so much?)

Yes. The basic requirement is that they be accessiable with nothing more than a screw driver. Any kind of box with a blank cover will work.
And you can hide them behind other things as long as it just takes a screw driver. But just don't get too artful in hiding them that they can't be found when needed.

I don't understand your question. Junction boxes don't care if the wire is stranded or solid.
Oh no, not this again ...

Ahhh.'Boo'.ROFLMAO.
New work can lights can be disassembled from below. This will allow you access to the j-box(notice that both sides of j-box have removeable plates).
