A painter was killed yesterday when the small porch porch roof fell on him.

I am guessing it is 6×6 to 8×8.
I was surprised that at how little attachment there is to the house. You can’t see it in these pictures, but from the TV pictures the roof appears to still be in good shape.
But I guess the loads are light enough IF there are support post. But apparently there weren’t any. Don’t know if they where never any, removed for some reason, or “borrowed”.

Unbelievable! If you play the video it says the concrete guys removed the support posts to pour the porch, but it looks like the only thing holding the porch to the house is a few nails.
I'm not a roofer but I would think some through bolts or lags would be required to hold a structure like that to the house.
We are required to put lags every at least every 12" to hold a deck onto a house.
It is sad to here someone lost their life over something like this.

I did not hear that. That must be from a later broadcast that the one that I saw.
And I think that it was on another station. But I was looking for one that showed the pictures.
Don't see anything that looks like a framing clip, etc on that wall. Where were the archy, inspectors, foreperson?

I am not a pro and I don't know what a framing clip is?
Don't forget that this is Kansas, no earthquake activity.
But I did a google on framing clips and got lots of hits on telephone equipment and other none framing items.
But I did find a Simpons FC framing clip, but don't see anywhere that it would be used in a application like this except possibling connecting the post to the roof, but that is not a problem here.
looks like the gable was nailed on... with LIQUID NAILS.
I dont see a bolted on ledger of any kind....
