Hello Everyone,
Has any of you ever heard of or used yourself, kempas hardwood plank flooring? My husband and I are considering this for our new home. It is being sold at the Home Depot Expo Design Center, at least where we’re at. It is a prefinished solid hardwood flooring that is 3/4 inches thick and 4 1/2 inches in width of the planks. We really like the look of a little bit wider plank.
It is supposedly several times the hardness of oak. It has a nice grain and color, we both like it and it’s a good price ($4.49/sq. ft.). I’ve just never heard of that type of wood before. I guess it’s considered an exotic? We have 2 dogs so the hardness appealed to us too. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks for any input!

We had it installed in June.. It is beautiful looking, except that it does dent very easily.. high heals forget about it. Do not recommend dogs. The other problem we are having is gaps and shrinkage. Don't know why it is rated so much higher than oak as far as hardness, but get a sample and see the damage you can do with just pressing a spoon or other non sharp hard item.
