Kerdi ceiling ok for ceramic tiles?
I installed Kerdi everywhere interior to my shower/steam room, including the ceiling. I am about to install ceramic tiles to the ceiling, but read advice on Fine Home Building last month that for ceiling tile application, Kerdi is not recommended/used. Oops. My Kerdi is already installed. Is this a problem for me to install 12×12″ ceramic tiles on ceiling on Kerdi? Kerdi was mounted on hardie backer board.
P.S. I noticed that in my 5×5′ steam room, there are 2 air pockets discovered about 2″ diameter behind the Kerdi. I guess that’s where the thinset did not bond to the Kerdi at all. Only observed on walls. What’s the suggested remedy? I was thinking of cutting a slit in the bubble and inserting some thinset in them. Good or bad move?

Never heard the warning against Kerdi on ceilings. I'd post this over at the John Bridge forum if you don't get much action here.
As for the 2" air pockets -- if you're using 12"X12" tiles, I wouldn't worry too much about them. But if you want to fix 'em, cut them out and lay a patch over them, with the new overlapping the old by 2"

I agree that your probably fine with the bubbles. I've also never heard of the "warning" against kerdi on the ceiling. I've used it on the ceiling of a shower with 6x6 and it worked great. I didn't know how well it would hold the tiles when I set them but they held perfectly and it was no problem. post at john bridge but also give schulter a call, I think you're fine.
