Anyone have an opinion on deep drawers w/ full extension slides versus doors and full extension trays for a pot & pan base cabinet…
Why have doors when you are going to pull out the trays anyway?

I love trays behind doors for big stuff. Trays aren't as restrictive, and the doors hide the jumble and keep the dust out.
Ok, but why not "tall" drawers.....

I did a kitchen that didnt have any doors on the lowers, everything was a full extension drawer.
The lady couldnt bend over all that well so she wanted everything in a drawer.
Worked for her.

One more opinion. Last house, had doors and tray; this house, drawers. My vote goes to drawers. I think that there is more useable space in drawers,, but the big difference... The doors had long scratch marks, probably from not being opened fully, or maybe springing back as you pulled out the tray.
One thing I wasn't prepared for on my cutlery drawer though .... The face of the drawer in 6" By the time the drawer slides are mounted underneath, and the bottom of the drawer is on, and the side walls are cut to fit the opening, the bloody drawer is only 3" deep. IF that! I have to be careful placing serving spoons into the drawer -- if they're on their side, they get caught.
I wish I had been given the choice -- sure the under mount slides neaten the appearance, and give you an extra inch on the sides, but I would rather have had an extra 2" of depth to the drawers. I hope you give your client that option
Drawers, absolutely! You are right - why have a couple of doors to open, then trip over when you are trying to get at the pots. My parents remodel 25 years ago added three wide drawers under the cooktop - I was just over there today and still love how easy they are to use/access. My new kitchen will have 40 drawers/slid-outs and only 6 or so will be behind doors (for the pantry).
Just use a false front with full extension slides. The tray/drawer can be made to hold as many pots/pans as you need. I usually make the trays from 1/2"BB, and screw the front to those. The handles go all the way through the face and the front of the tray. I use these a lot for under sink cabs.
I've also run a piece of flat bar the length of a cab with holes drilled at intervals, installed hooks to hang larger pots and fry pans from. It beats stacking them on one another. You can get a lot of pans in one of these.
