First off, I would like to thank all who provided me with some great info on windows, I’m in the process of compiling the data and will share my final results on that thread.
I have tenatively moved on to my Kitchen Cabinets, I have seen reviewed some of the discussions through the search and it seems like custom is preferred. I had a kitchen designer cost out a semi-custom line called DURA SUPREME. I have a simple but rather large kitchen as far as base cabinets go due to having 2 islands. I need side and back panels for those as well as appliance fronts. There are only 3 sets of wall cainets 24,30 and 24 due t the layout. I asked for the quote to be an all plywood box and to be cherry. The quote came back at around 27K.
My question is are there any good Brands out there worth looking into and is they a source to find custom builders, or should I ask some local builders.
Thanks

Crown Point cabinets in New Hampshire made our cabinets. Our cost was around what you were quoted. They have a quality product, they usually have a few month lead time.
Thanks
That's not that far from here in CT
I'll contact them
If you do go with the dura you will not regret it. I have installed those cabinets on a few occasions and have always been happy.

Thanks
Glad to hear that option is positive
sap,
I just did a full blown kitchen remodel in our house and we got our cabinets from Village Cabinets in Bristol CT. All custom. Really high quality. If youre interested email me and I can give you the phone number/sales contact. Great folks to work with as well. Will post some pics in the next couple of days.
Where in CT are you?

I have been getting RTA (ready to assemble) cabinets from Scherr's. See their stuff at http://www.scherrs.com
Frameless only, with carcases done in 3/4" melamine-faced particleboard (or hardwood veneer plywood if you upgrade), and fronts in a whole lotta styles and species.
Drawer options include dovetailed 5/8 hardwood in any species, or Tandembox or Metabox by Blum. Drawer slides can be anything from Blum's line. If you want those drawer-closing dampers, they will add the option.
While they don't offer all the staining and distressing options that many of the cab makers do, they do paint or clearcoat (satin, gloss, or flat) all the fronts, or ship sanded and ready for on-site finishing, if that is your wish.
Custom anything is their forte, and I have found Leon Scherr a joy to work with. I just ordered a whole-house package, and it is a replica of what can be seen here http://www.homebydesignshowhouse.com/download/ It is a large order, and includes the staircase bookshelves, every built-in in the whole place, and more.

Thanks Gene
I'll look them up
Sap,
Heres some pics of the almost finished project. Still need to refinish the floors, plumb the island and misc. punch list items. Sorry they are kinda dark. I am going to take some more when it is light out. -M

Sap
The windows and sliders are all Semco. They where the windows that the local lumber yard was pushing when we built our house. Now they dont even sell them... The casements have been great but the double hungs have been less than satisfactory... Let me know how you make out. Who are you dealing with at Village?SYSOP[email protected]Have you updated your forum profile lately? Please Do!
I don't have a contact as of yet, I'm trying to make sense of my needs and call them when I am done. I am also sending the info for a quote to Crown Point Cabinetry in New Hampshire.
Cool, good luck and if there is anything that I can be of help with give a yell. I just saw your email did you get the contact info for them yet? -MSYSOP[email protected]Have you updated your forum profile lately? Please Do!
