Hello all,
Last weekend I found water on the table of my drill press in the basement, which means it dripped through the floor of the kitchen. Rotten J-trap on the sink. Initially I took everything out, pried up the warped cabinet floor and turned on the AC and dehumidifier. I’ve felt like I am catching a cold all week, so this Saturday I tore out the bottoms of the cabinets, peeled up the old vinyl floor and tar paper, leaving the original, though now black, pine flooring, which I scrubbed clean with dilute bleach solution. I still have the cabinet to the right of the sink left to clean and the flooring the front of the sink.
My question now is, should I tear up the pine flooring too? The house was built in 1929 and has a pine sub-floor and pine flooring. I am still sneazy, on my way to grumpy and hopefully not going to become dopey. Do I also need to vacuum the whole house to pick up any loose spores that I may be continually stirring up? I have access to a HEPA vac.
This may precipitate a kitchen remodel, in which case I will be asking plenty more questions.
Thanks,
Scott
