Kitchen over Raised concrete Porch
New to the forums, so please bear with me.
Live in Northern NJ and starting a kitchen renovation. It will be enlarged over our back porch which is a concrete slab over a craw space. The craw space has one opening 3 x 4 ft and has a cinderblock foundation
The floor of the kitchen over the slab will be raised about 6 inches to be same height as the present floor.
What is the best way to insulate this job. I was thinking spray foam in the crawl space and between the floor joists.
What about a thermal break so cold from the ground doesn’t go directly up the foundation to the slab and then to the floors and walls.
Thanks for the advice
see attachment for a side view of the situation.

Mike gave you some good advice.
I just gave you a bump to move your topic to the top of the list so other could see it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the plan show foam between the sleapers?
Why not spend a day demoing that slab and then insulate the perimeter stem wall foundation on the inside of it?

Surprised no one picked this one up yet. I'll give it a shot.
I'd make the whole crawl space conditioned space, i.e., insulate the walls. Saves problems with plumbing later.
There is no great way to insulate the existing slab on the perimeters, so you just have to account for it in your heat loss calcs. You could minimize it by insulating between your new kitchen floor sleepers tho'. I'd use rigid foam sheets.
If you have existing hot water heat, I'd definately recommend in-floor hydronic. I love that stuff!
