I’m a DIY’er looking to replace my microwave/vent combo with a true range hood – tired of looking at greasy cabinets. On paper, Kobe’s CH-27 model fits all my criteria (undercabinet mount, compatible with existing 3-1/4 x 10 vent on exterior wall, looks OK, and supposedly very quiet). But it’s also the upper end of my budget. Does anyone have experience installing Kobe? Good product for the price? Are they as quiet as advertised? Any advice appreciated…

I am the donkey labor end of a husband/wife design/build remodeling company. The last kitchen we did for a client required a high CFM vent hood over a high output stove. My wife spent hours looking at range hoods and we ended up with a Kobe wall mount hood.
Overall, I was pretty impressed. The metal work was nice. It was super simple to hang on the wall. Installing blocking behind the hanging tabs is mandatory for the wall mount unit. Venting connection was simple but was a round 7" duct. It had a chimney kit to cover the vent pipe. All the brushed stainless steel was covered with protective plastic which helped with the dust and fingerprints.
It was quiet on the lower speeds. My only thought would be to rework the switches. It had about two more switches than was necessary in my opinion.
The hood has only been in service for about three months now. Ask me in ten years for a comprehensive review. I believe we bought the unit from ventingdirect.com.
The client likes the hood.
