The DW and I are considering the Kohler Tea for Two (K-850) 60 inch cast iron drop-in tub…
we’re considering the Kohler because it is difficult to find a 60-inch drop in that is not acrylic/fiberglass/plastic.
I read one review on Amazon which hinted at possible rust appearing through the glaze,
and cheap drain hardware.
Just thought I’d post here for any comments on this unit, before we drop our money on it.
Thanks

A customer of mine chose
a Kohler CI tub that was about a thousand bucks if I recall correctly. Shortly after it was installed I noticed a *tiny* rust spot on one inside face near the bottom. It was almost impossible to see but I noticed it while cleaning the thing at the end of the job. There was a bit of spider-like cracking in the glaze and a tiny bit of rust. I had the plumber put in a warranty claim on it and it took nearly 18 months before they sent out a sub to check it out, a guy who does scratch and dent repairs for plumbing showrooms. He ground the area down and airbrushed it, and it's very good but not perfect. Will it last... who knows... I am told these repairs are reliable, but I haven't had one done to CI before.
Anyway, inspect the hell out of yours before it comes in the house, and I mean with a magnifying glass.
Amen - and that applies to ANY tub you have delivered... before it comes in the house, it should be open up - all plastic pulled - and fully inspected.
i had a tub sit for months in the corner in the box, I figured that was the safest place for it. Turned out a folklift fork tagged a corner, nearly totaled a $5500 tub. Not, it was not covered by warranty then at that late date.
