Anyone have experience with Kolbe & Kolbe doors, specifically interior doors? Guy at the lumber yard did a double take when I asked.
I’m getting the same price quoted as for equivalent Simpson, but from reading posts here in general it seems better to get a door from a window factory than rely on distributor putting the hardware on the slab (it would be Brosco in this case). BTW neither these nor Simpson are looking cheap.
K&K says their doors are “furniture-grade hardwood veneer” over engineered wood core. I assume this is the same as Simpson wood doors? Does that mean only get poplar if you want to paint? It’s about the same price as oak. That’s a bit of a surprise, oak in Simpson was much more than DF. Current doors are painted red oak, I don’t know if I or some future HO might want to strip and stain.

Greetings T,
That subject has been addressed here on Breaktime a number of different times in the past.
In the event you fail to receive the information you desire, you might find it in the archives.
If you scroll down in the lower left corner of your screen there is a search function that will take you to previous threads dealing with whatever you type in the search bar.
If you type in 'Kolbe' you'll get a supply of data from those old threads.
Cheers
