The Design Your Dwelling Competition results are revealed on Dwell.com
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ — Today Dwell magazine in
partnership with Google SketchUp announced the winner of the Design Your
Dwelling Competition on Dwell.com. North Carolina-based Drew Wilgus’ entry was
chosen out of almost 150 impressive submissions and featured a design
constructed using salvaged elements from the Golden Gate Bridge among other
green building practices.
Partnering with Google SketchUp, Google’s 3D modeling software, the Design
Your Dwelling competition challenged aspiring architects and design
enthusiasts to create a virtual model of their ideal home on a predetermined
site location in Google Earth at Crissy Field in San Francisco, CA. Models
were required to be geo-located in Google Earth and were to take into account
climate, public access, and size constraints, among other issues.
