Neither. Laminate flooring is not suitable for use in area subject to moisture or flooding. Sooner or later your floor is going to get soaked and it won't be pretty. Joe H
Ditto Joe's comments. Lam. flooring is not all it's cranked up to be. Moisture and high traffic kill this stuff. Fortunately, if installed (as usual) AFTER the cabinets, it is easy to replace, usually just have to pull baseboard and then demo it out, replacing with the same short lived material or something long lasting like ceramic tile!

I am a firm believer that which ever finished flooring you decide to put down in your kitchen should be installed prior to cabinetry.

It is eaasier that way but I asked that Q of the manufacturers for one I did last winter. The answer was that it should be after cabs because of the expansion coefficient. Don't want the stuff sliding in and out from under cabs.
