In the market for a new trimmer, looking at the bosch and porter cable models. Have some jobs coming up that justify a new tool purchase, (hate when that happens—grin). Have used the porter cable before, seems fine only flaw was depth adjustment was not overly impressive.
So that being said, what do ya-all recommend go bosch or porter cable? Thank you in advance

Just to be contrary...

Got it, love it, very comfortable to use.
I must say though that Bosch does look mighty fine (and less expensive to boot)!
Didn't consider makita will look it up. Have you used one.
I have the one pictured. I have never used another one so have no points of comparison, but here's what I like about the Makita:
Clear base makes it easy to see what you're doing no matter how the trimmer is pointed
The LED lights really do help - I thought it was kind of gimicky but now I'm a believer
The fan really works - keeps the cutting area clean
Light weight, small diameter makes it very comfortable to use
Negatives:
Height adjustment doesn't have very good fine adjustment (though I haven't needed really good accuracy, so hasn't been a problem). It is fast though and stays put.
Although the trimmer guide seems well designed I always have used pilot bearing bits so never used it.
Hope that helps!
thanks again
I have not used the Bosch but have used the Porter Cable and like it fine. I have about six DeWalts, one for each base; (hate changing bases and bits) and I like them. I doubt if you can find the DeWalt any more. I think they put it out of production. If I did not have the DeWalt I would go to the Porter Cable.
Amazon.com lists a couple of models of DeWalt laminate trimmer. However, none of them may be the model you are referrig to.
There are probably some still on the market. When I bought my last three I had to special order. What you see on Amazon is the model. My understandang is that DeWalt discontinued production on this model. What I like about it is the size. It is a very sustantial router and fits well in my hand. I have also used Mikita and Porter Cable and both of them are very nice trim routers. By having a router for each base, once I get a good setup I don't have to disturb it for another operation.
I bought the Bosch Pony a few weeks ago so that I could add a modern sink drain into a soapstone laundry sink. Nice, easy to hold and smooth running. Drawback? Made in Singapore, IIRC.
The porter cable lam trim is garbage IMO. You are right that the depth adjustment is lame. Not so with the 310, very good adjustment.
This is the one you want.

I've got both the "hard to adjust" PC and the really easy to adjust PC 610, the 610 is a great little trim router.
Havent used the Bosch or Makita so nothing to compare to.
