I’m doing a job that will involve gluing up curved handrails and skirtboards on a stairway that turns just 180 degrees. It’s NOT a spiral stair. The homeowner purchased handrails that are already shaped and come in strips to be glued on site to the necessary curve. I looking for advice on how much springback to expect when the handrails are un-clamped. Is it enough that it must be compensated for or is it just a little that comes out in the wash? The skirtboard will be laminated as well but since it gets nailed on to a curved surface, springback isn’t a huge issue.
I’m also looking for glue recommendations. I’ve been planning on using polyurethane glue because of its longer working time and ease of cleanup and sanding. I would love to hear from someone who has experience at this.
Thanks

We did a couple hundred feet of these rails this past spring. We used liquid hide glue which is plenty strong and nice and slow set. There is absolutely no springback once cured. I believe there was an article in FHB on clamping these rails up on the treads.
