finished sat… welded up the last section… cleaned em all and painted them… 6 landings… 6 flights of stairs… (5 flights are the same) only the first from the ground to the 1st landing is different…
took me 1 day per flight… thats with me be’n called away and still keep’n everything/everyone else roll’n along… includes mark’n and cutting all the steel… cut all the channel so that it “hooks” onto each landing….
stringers are 10″ jr channel treads are 11″ x 2.5″ metal pans (CEE perlin) and risers are flat plate steel…
built first flight in place… and other 5 on a jig in the shop… using a lazer to position each tread…. and alot of clamps….
it was after 5 everyday by the time i got everything welded, wiped down and seam each day …
sat took all the sections outside with the bobcat (except the 1st thats already in place) and got them all painted except for 1″ at each end of all the channel that will get welded into place…
monday will be… winch them into place (upper most 1st) and weld em in… after that i still need to pan the landings, place the concrete and build the rails……. and then paint all that wasn’t pre painted… looks like this 10 day project will have closer to 20 days labor into it…
best guess… i’ll have about 3k in materals…. and the lowest price i got quoted was 29k not painted and no concrete placed… i know i’m working cheap… but…
i’ll work on some pics…. roof top deak with the river view without the use of a ladder… oh-boy…

pony,
There is a movement starting on BT to recommend posts as yours here to be posted in the photos folder so they get seen and not buried into the archives.

IMERC stopped by thursday on his way to FL with the grandkids... he's look'n well... he took alot of pics ... checked out my progess and looked at my kitchen cabinet inventory ... man i have more than all the home centers combined... took all week part time on the stairs to get em all set and welded into place all top & btm risers (each flight) had to be welded in after... so... started the rails... takes a minute with my "design on site" process... but it's work'n...
he said he'd try his hand at pic post'n... I do have a guy work'n on a web page with me... (him more than me) so maybe soon
