Got an email from Tool Fetch. I’ve bought from them before.
Good company as far as I’m concerned.
These prices look pretty good too.

The best tool for straight, splinter-free cuts is made even better without a cord.

Did you get one?
This is purely a case of alien identity
already had two ...
from them.
that's how-cause I knew they were a good company.
Jeff
Or $40 more could get this...
PLS3 Self-Leveling Laser Tool (Includes Wall Bracket, Carrying Pouch, Floor Stand)
Our Price: : $196.97__________ View Image Self-Leveling: Instant and continuous leveling.3 Laser Beams: Forward, Up and Down (Level and Plumb). View Details
Which leads me to asking what options are on the 5xd besides the 250ft accuracy compared to 100ft with the PLS3.
Is the 5xd a single horizontal beammaking the PLS3 more versatile but just shorter on beam length accuracy?
I've been eyeing levels for a while now and see that the prices have been getting lower.
be It may be the time.

I got the regular old PLS 5 ...
for starters ... it's got 5 dots.
Up ... down .... out ... like the "3" ...
and also left and right ... for squaring up stuff.
Not sure what the "xd" adds ... bet it's something about exterior and fancy dector?
I just plan on building outside at nite or on overcast days ... that way ... I'll still see the dots. I think the exterior add-on gizmo's are now about the same price as I paid for mine ... shoulda waited ...
Jeff
I've been able to use my 5X outdoors without a problem. If the sun is incredibly bright then it's a challenge, but you can just shade the area where the dot is to see it. I paid about $550 for mine about 2 years ago. That always happens to me.
At the JLC show I saw a phenomenal laser from Stabila. About $700. I would love to have that one.

I admire you self control lol. Everytime I see one I would love to have I end up with it. Terrible weakness. Shoes, tools, and choclate. Can't seem to get past them. Oh well I guess there are worse vices. DanT
I've had a tool fetish in the past but it was when I was doing mostly furniture and cabinetwork and got into the hand tools... a big collection of Lie-Nielsen and all that. I also have a ridiculous collection of camera gear. I love what I do but I don't get much of a buzz from buying expensive tools because I know I'll have to sit down and enter the expense into this computer and watch it hit my bottom line. I'm trying to be more like you... more investment property, less transient materialistic stuff... so I'll save the 7 bills if I can.
I would not hesitate to buy the Stabila if the PLS dies.
Tell us about those shoes. Are we talking an Imelda-type situation here??
I suppose it all goes back to childhood when shoes were a premium. I get the Sportsmans Guide catalogs and if I see a pair of shoes a brand name that I like (rockports and Wolverine are a couple favorites) in wide and a style I like they are comming in the mail!
I told a friend of mine this one time and he said "hell all I ever see you wear is work boots" and I replied "yeah but I own 6 pair". Probably have 30 pair of shoes and boots. Over kill I know. And I wear them all, not at once though. DanT
30 pair would be roughing it from a womens perspective, and thats just the black ones.
I collect compressors and Im not sure why,......................
Sometimes I go on a binge where I can eat tacos all the time.
Had a plumber buddy that got started into jacks one day. Then over the next few months he keep on getting all these different types of jacks.
I mean he's a plumber! Bet he ends up using all of two jacks out of that whole stash and infrequent at best.
Now if they were fishing poles I could understand...
...all I need is the air that I breathe...
I have 7 compressors. The seventh I came home with brand new a month ago . It wasnt like it was a deal or anything . I didnt need it , I just wanted it . I guess I need to turn myself in to a support group er somthin.
Tim Mooney
My name is Tim Mooney, and I have too many compressors. It all started when I was young and my dad made me fix my own bike tire. With a manual hand pump. It sucked. Now all I can think about is automated air pumping. At night, on the weekends, all the time. I can't get away from it. I hope this group can help me. DanT
It doesnt end with compressors either ,....................
Hi.
My name is Tim Mooney, and I have too many drywall tools. It all started when I was young and my dad made me fix up his rental houses. With the same old rusted knives that stained the paste. It sucked. Now all I can think about is stainless steel and texture guns . At night, on the weekends, all the time. I can't get away from it. I hope this group can help me.
...all I need is the air that I breathe...
Well..........mine doesn't exactly end with shoes either. As the years go by I find that I am more thoughtful in my purchases. Mainly "what do I have to do for upkeep if I buy this?" is the thought I have more and more. As my brother always says to me though, it will be a great auction when we die. DanT
