Anyone know where to find (or what to call) doors that when openned can slide back into the space they enclose. The best I can describe what we are looking for is a door for a closet that works like the doors on those TV armoires. You open the door 90 degrees then you can slide it back into the armoire so its not blocking the TV.
We are putting a cabinet/closet for our stacked washer/dryer under the landing of the basement stairs. We’d like doors that can slide back into the cabinet when open so there is less obstruction. Any idea where to find this type of door, or what to call it so my search is easier.
Thanks.

We call it pocket door hardware or flipper door hardware. I think Accuride has some of the best out there and is distributed by most good hardware distributers. I personally like the cable type system the best. Iv'e done a least a 200 sets of various types in the last 20+ years
Try this:

Migraine,
Thanks for the reply. To clarify, we want this for a closet, so we are really looking for a fullsized door. Not a cabinet or armoire. Will these work? Do we need something more heavy duty? Any chance something like this comes in a set with doors and hardware?
Thanks.

There is another called Hafele that has what you are looking for, but they are not cheap. Tryt doing a search on Hafele. One of their distribution warehouses is in Carson, Calif and the staff is usually very helpful
I have used the accuride stuff for about a 60-72" max. But I have also stacked one above the other and that worked so-so. mainly because the doors want to stop on something like a door stop/bumper. It took alot of tweaking to make it work, but I would not have done it in my own house. This is where the client didn't want to spend the bucks for the more expensive Hafele hardware
Another option is Full Access Bifold doors. Johnson has the hardware.

They allow the door to fold flat against the wall and not stick out.
Very clever. Thanks for the tip!
Bill,
Thanks again for the recommendation. We bought the hinge, it works great (Now if we could just get the guys installing it to actuall finish the job...).

I've used the Hafele that migraine refered to, they cost about $1500 for a set!
I've also stacked a few of the accurides on top of each other for doors.
Depends on how heavy/big your doors are.
