I am looking to lay linoleum on the floor of my semi-finished basement. I am looking to put down the 12″ square tiles. I am a residential framer, so I have absolutely no experience in laying tile or linoleum, but I would like to give this one a shot. Could anyone give me some tips on how to get started? Are the tiles self-adhesive or do I have to put a adhesive on the unfinished floor first?

You can buy both. Which one do you want. I suspect you get a better floor if you glue it yourself.
I've done this a couple of times. Linoleum tile is very unforgiving...there is no grout line that can be adjusted to keep things square. You are extremely dependent on the quality control at the factory. If there is any variation in the tiles, you are screwed. Don't buy cheap tiles.

Another day, another tool.
Can I buy a high quality linoleum and adhesive at home depot or do I have to go to a specialty store?
The dry back tile usually is something you have to
wax. But usually comes in 1/8" thickness which
about makes it bullet proof.
The self stick, that I've seen is very thin but has
a no wax surface( low maintenace).
I purchase my tile at a specialty store. I use Armstrong 1/8"
exclusivly. Here is a picture of a floor I did. You can get pretty
creative with colors.
Prospero won't let me post any pictures but here is alink to it.
