I intended to install floor tiles right on the vinyl surface in the bath room without removing the vinyl. Is this possible? If possible, should I do any special treatment on the vinyl surface? Do I need to use special adhesive?

Cho,
You might want to re post this in a different folder,,,,, like "construction tech".
Also, I don't think you should tile over the vinyl. You need to remove vinyl, and evaluate the floor for it's suitabilty for tile. It may need to be be beefed up a bit, or at least recieve a layer of tile backer board.

Read the labels on the bags of ceramic bedding grouts....there are some that say they will adhere to vinyl as long as that vinyl is securely adhered to the substrate.
I've done it........it has stayed in high traffic applications.
I would not do it over a "cushion vinyl" as there is posible movement that will effect the grout lines and tile adhesion.
Disclaimer....I am not a full time flooring installler. There will be other experiences and opinions to follow.

a layer of 1/4" hardibacker installed over the vinyl would make a much better installation and wouldn't create much in the way of height issues
I've done it twice with no ill effects. Both jobs were on slabs, and fairly large. On something as small as a bath I'd find a way to tear the vinyl out.
