I am looking for help in laying out some winder stairs.
With the new code restrictions of the 6″ minimum tread the stairs can’t be built like before in the 60’s when the stair went to 0″ in the inside corner.
How best to do the layout?
Any ideas???

Does it have to be a winder? I found that using two landings took up less space than the required winder treads.

Wasn't there a recent article in FH on this very topic? It showed you exactly how the winder tread starts before the inside corner and you end of w/ like 5 odd/uniquely shaped treads. The way they showed it and explained the layout was very straight forward. They showe this for a stair replacement in an existing house.
The way to set a traditional winder is to build 3 boxes, from the top view, splitting into thirds. Now instead of zero at the newel point, overlay 6" wide treads at that edge to the wider sections.
