I just read Tom Meehan’s article on leakproof shower plans on wooden subfloors. We are building a house for a client who has requested a larger custom shower, and it is in the basement. What detail do I use, and what do I rough-in to the basement slab? I am assuming if the bottom half of the drain assembly is set in the slab level, with a trap, we would build a bed up from there, and attach the adjustable section from there. Do I need the membrane, or is there another way to protect the wall transition that is acceptable?
