Leaky Basement wall needs repairing
Leaky Basement wall needs repairing before I can proceed with remodelling job.
I am in the process of finishing a basement of a 20 year old home with poured concrete walls. As I was removing the existing 2×2 with R8 insulation and VB I noticed that there is long crack in the wall that runs from the plate all the way down to the floor slab. I wouldn’t have known about it but we have had heavy rain for the past several days and it was coming in leaving a big puddle on the floor.
What is the best method to repair this crack? It is no wider than 1/8″ at the widest point and I feel the best way to tackle it is from the out side. I was thinking of using Wet Stick roof patch to do it but there must be a better detail than that.
Does anyone have any ideas or experience with these types of repair?

there are people who can fix it from the inside with epoxy
cost about $550

I'd be inclined to do the fix from the outside.
We tried to fix one of these "simple" looking cracks with eposy from the inside and succeeded, as it didn't leak again during the spring, summer or fall months despite torrential rains that left the backyard of that home with a few inches of standing water.
However.............come the next spring, the water was again trickling thru the crack which had opened again. Conclusion was that the freezing ground along that side of the house pushed against said wall during the winter and refractured it.
We then called US Waterproofing and they simply dug a "posthole" along the crack on the exterior side. Then poured in their "secret goo". That one was $400 and carries a guarantee for as long as they own the house. That was about ten years ago and no problem since.
(Anybody know what the secret goo is? Seems like an easy way to bank $400.)
