Anybody have experience with LG appliances? We are considering getting an LG All In One Washer/Dryer to save space, water, and treks to the laundry room. The online reviews are a little scarce and I was wondering about durability.

LG is a Korean company that has, for years, made appliances to be branded by others. Only recently did they start putting on their own labels.
Suggest that you search under the financial news to get the brands for which they mfg'd and then research those.

"LG is a Korean company "
Now that's interesting. The appliance guy said they were European. Now I've got a puzzle to sort through. Thanks for the info - I did a search on LG, but was looking for reviews, now I'll look into the company and see if I can find who else they manufactured for. I have the same problem with Whirlpool - I'd like to avoid the company but they build for KitchenAid, Kenmore, and several others.
If the appliance guy said LG is European, either he doesn't know or didn't want to tell you that they're Korean. LG is the initials for the company name, Lucky Goldstar. Yes, the same Goldstar that made all of the crappy electronics in the 70's and 80's. Their LCD and plasma TVs are actually pretty good and they have owned Zenith for quite a while.
"I cut this piece four times and it's still too short."
I knew before I even looked that you were probably right and the sales guy was wrong - and you are absolutely right. LG is Korean. I had a Goldstar monitor in the late 80's early 90's that I liked - it outlasted the computer.
I have a friend that has a washer-dryer pair from LG. He also has an LG refrigerator, too. Then again, he's South Korean. :)
Curious, where are you folks buying or considering buying the LG, Samsung, etc. lines from? There is no 'best' in Best Buy as these namebrands are always excluded from any specials and appliance-discounting promotions.
We were looking at it in a Best Buy. The price there seems comparable, even a little better, than what I've seen on the net.
The whole concept of shopping for major appliances on the Internet is surprising. I have usually equated major appliance to mean a heavy appliance and anything heavy being shipped is expensive. I am curious as to the extent the buying public makes purchases of major appliances online. Of course, I am talking about things like washer/dryer, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, over, etc.
I have also been watching with interest the front loading washers. I remember in the old days of using public landry shops where they had front-loaders. They seem to get a premium compared to top-loaders. Not exactly sure I want a front loader on my second floor (where the builder decided to locate the laundry room). Still, I like them. Now, if my Maytag would just die already ... (washer is ten years old and dryer is nine).
Many online appliance stores offer free shipping--a number of people on the http://www.thathomesite.com kitchen forum have bought their kitchen appliances online, and most have been very happy with both the price and service.
http://www.witbeckappliance.com usually gets high marks, and they offer free shipping.
As for front-loading washers, I absolutely love mine (Kenmore made by Whirlpool). We've had it for two years now, and it gets my clothes cleaner with less water and less wear and tear. I'd buy another again in a heartbeat, even though they are more expensive than top loaders.

Oh, I'm not trying to discourage from online buying. I am just, in a not so direct manner, conveying my concerns regarding in-flight damage due to the shipping companies. I'll have to check those URLs out.
In December, I bought all the appliances for a home I am building, on-line from Ajax-Philadelphia. The order included a 48"range, 48" BI fridge, DW, ice maker, warming drawer, washer and dryer and range hood. Free shipping. I am in the south so they will put my order on a moving van for delivery. Should be able to turn them loose in about 3 weeks so we shall see. I did receive the hood a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. Have my fingers crossed!!!

Ajax-Philadelphia? I'm going to have to do some research on them. Thanks for the heads-up.
We have a front load washing machine works just fine. But one thing my wife doesnt like. It collects dirt inside the rim of the door. and we need to clean it once and awhile. I hope this helps you.
