Lifetime Wood Trtmnt vs Revive cleaner
i don’t post often, but here’s a question:
my painter’s helpers recently cleaned some exposed beam work on the house i’m currently trimming with a Sherwin Williams product, Revivc. it’s a pretty aggressive cleaner, and they wore gloves and were instructed to douse the areas cleaned with water.
needless to say, the water dousing was less than ideal, so some Revive was splashed onto the unfinished cedar siding. when the finish (Lifetime Wood Treatment) was applied, it didn’t penetrate the areas that the Revive touched, leaving bright splotches everywhere.
is there any hope? the painter claims no, but i’m appealing to the more knowledgeable folks out there for help before i tear off quite a bit of siding.
thanks in advance!

Revive is an oxalic based product. It remove "aged" wood and returns it to it's natural color.
Now looking at Lifetimes website I am not sure what it does.
http://www.valhalco.com/
It says that it still allow it to weather (turn gray) and to check.
So I don't know what it is suppose to do.
From you comments and reading the web site my guess is that it is not a problem of not penatrating, but rather not being able to cover up the difference in colors.
You might try contacting them for some more information.
You might also try using a stain to blend in the difference.
So applying Revive to the whole wall.
