Can anyone tell me what causes a certain light fixture to burn out bulbs rapidly?
Sometimes it’s even 1 outlet in a 3 or 4 outlet fixture that eats bulbs. I’ve put a
meter on it and voltage is fine. Thanks

Is it located in a place where its subject to a lot of vibration? People stomping on floor above it, washing machine, garage door opener, ect.
Excess voltage, vibration, bad connection in socket, or rapid switching on and off (perhaps due to a bad wiring connection). Does the light ever flicker?
Try a dab of Vaseline (about the size of a small match head) on the tip of the bulb's base and another similar dab on the aluminum ring, near the bottom.
As has been mentioned, sometimes bad contact between bulb and socket. With power off/unpluged, you can bend up the contact in the middle bottom of the socket. An old style can opener or even a paint lid removal tool will lift the contact.

Thanks for all the help. No vibration, but I will check the contact.
Is the fixture level?
If one of the lamp sockets is lower than the others, the electricity will tend to "pool" at the low point, and the resulting higher voltage causes that lamp to fail sooner.
Just a thought,

You can fix that by tying a knot in the wire leading to the low fixture.

No, you just need to trim the wicks of the bulbs.http://forums.taunton.com/tp-breaktime/messages?msg=114236.5.
