The painters around here are coming in and woking MDF like we used to work the rust spots in fenders. Spot filling, then painting. The finishes these guys are getting are amazing. It truly is like glass. Trouble is I am never on site when they are spraying. Does anyone have a clue as to how these guys are getting this finish. Materials, final sanding grit, etc…?
Thanks.

Ever try to touch up your car fender with a 2" brush and can of paint?
Happens all the time up here in Wisconsin. Usually they paint the beaters in the same cami that they put on their duck hunting jon boats. Can't see them going down the road.

Actually, there's quite a movement that does just that - brush-painting your car. Lots of odd bits of personal time; insignificant $. Couple of magazines, Hot Rod most recently, had an article on just how to do it.
I kid you not!

<edit> Obviously, you just layer on many thin coats of enamel (Rustoleum); then work through your block-sanding sequence.
