Heard a “rule of thumb” (from our AC guy) once:
If a system (gas fires forced air) looses freon during the winter (or “down time”) then the leak is in the Evap coil above the furnace.
But…if the system looses freon during the summer (or “running period”), then the leak is in the compressor outside.
True or false…..

Your AC guy don't know his thumb from his azz.
Find another one.
Or pay for his on the job learning/experimenting.

winter or summer the entire system,when not running has about a 125 psi through the condensor,a coil,lines. if there is a leak anywhere it will find it even when its 10 degrees outside. larry
