Hey all,
The friend of a good client has a small shack she lives in and it appears as though they built this thing with a framed wall and plywood sheathing and then applied small 1/2 logs vertically about 1-2″ apart. There is no finish or anything on the logs, housewrap or probably insulation in the walls(if there is insulation it is probably fiberglass batts which is not an air barrier). The walls leak air terribly and she’s looking for a solution to seal up between the logs. I’m not a log guy so I’m not real sure what might work. I considered like duct mastic which is approved for exterior use and can be brushed and/or troweled on but it may not be elastic enough to not crack, although it does have fiber in it, it may seperate from log edges with log movement. A Google search found me some stuff called Log Jam and Chinker’s Edge for larger gaps.
Can anybody recommend a good elastic chinking product that is economical, can be brushed and/or troweled on, painted/stained, easy to apply, easy clean up and that I can order and have shipped to me?
Are there any exterior spray in place foam solutions that can be painted to protect them from UV for something like this?
Thanks

Perma-chink is the best.
