I have a job framing up the interior walls for a log cabin. I’ve heard horror stories about how much the log walls shrink over time. How do I compensate for this in the interior walls?

Hi Leo,
What I do is cut a channel into the logs to accept the stud and wall finish with an additional 1/4 inch space.
I don't nail the intersecting wall to the logs, only to the floor.
At the ceiling, I nail a nailer strip to the ceiling to attach a wall moulding to that will cover the gap between the ceiling and the studded wall.
I use pins spaced at every 2 ft. made of treaded rods, inserted into snug predrilled holes and with nuts and washers on the top plate only and they extend into the top nailer attached to the ceiling.
This forms a slip connection between the two building system and still gives a solid feel to the assembly.
