I’m looking for a manmade composite outdoor wood replacement product that looks like Douglas Fir ?
I’d like it in sheet and dimensional sizes it can be an MDF type a foam or plastic .
Something like Mira Tec, Fypon ,or Azek.
I want it to look like Douglas Fir in grain and color .
Does anyone know of such a product out there ?
Hope you can help and Thanks,
Stephen

Greetings sht,
This post, in response to your question, will bump the thread through the 'recent discussion' listing again which will increase it's viewing.
Perhaps it will catch someone's attention that can help you with advice.
Cheers
So nobody has seen anything like what I'm looking for ???
To state the obvious, why not just use the douglas fir that is available? Specific information as to use and or application may bring a better response. Good luck
Dan
Could be but that wouldn't mean that the product isn't out there somewhere.
shameless bump
To be used for what?

Excellence is its own reward!
For outdoor trim a square light post and an overlay on a garage door to make it look like carriage type doors , real fir would be too heavy for the garage application and too thick, and all of it would mean yearly or more up keep in regards to finishing such as a clear coat of some kind . All this work will get a lot of sun .Thank for your response...
I have seen woodgrained fiberglass door sheeting.
A layer of something like 3/16 or 1/8" thick formed to look like a standard panel door.
No link tho'. Sorry.
"real fir would be too heavy for the garage application and too thick,"can get fir as thin as 3/8" and can plane down solid fir too.
The composites are generally heavier than real wood for the same thickness.

That is true about some of them being heavy though some of them are quite light the hard foams and Home Depot has a brand that is some-sort of plastic, not a foam, that's extremely light but just comes in white .Thanks

that might be a cellular PVC like Azek. There are a dozen different brands of it out there, some with wood graining.

It seems much lighter than Azek and cheaper too.
I can't find much clear better grade Fir around me in Pittsburgh PA, and that would still leave me with the upkeep problem. I want to use a lot of it and in a west facing location all afternoon sun .Thanks though,

I've tried everybody but Danbaugh which I've never heard off .
Have you ever heard of such a beast of fake wood product that I'm looking for ?Stephen
Dambaugh Lumber ...
ask for Doug ... tell him Jeff Buck said to call.
724-452-6330
they may not have what U want ... but describe yer situation.
Doug is just about the best counter guy in the world.
if they sell anything that'll apply ... he'll know of it.
might even recommend something they don't sell.
they're up north in Harmony ... but they deliver anywhere.
plus ... their delivery guys will actually "deliver" what's on the truck.
they're not afraid to touch what they brought ya!
carry it and everything .... even over mud and thru snow.
unlike many other delivery drivers ...

Faux Douglas Fir in foam.
This is an old thread of mine but something I'm still looking for so I thought I'd bump it.
This is a garage door company already doing what I want to do to my door but they don't have Douglas Fir and they don't sell
the product to cover your own door. I also want to use it in other areas on my house.

I'm bumping this because I'm still looking for this, and would like to see of anyone has seen something like this since I first posted it ?
I can't believe there is not something like this in Caliafornia where Doug Fir is use for trim much more than here in the east.
Thanks all,
