Looking for a source for custom doors

Runner1 | Posted in General Discussion on March 19, 2004 07:18am

I am looking for a source for custom front doors.  We are building a craftsman-style house.  Would like something unique, high quality and in mahogany.  Will be 3-6 with side lites and transom.

I found some really beautiful examples at www.volunteerlumber.com.  They are completely custom and a really big investment.  How can I trust ordering something like this over the web, site unseen?  Anyone have experience with this company?  Any other ideas for quality custom door manufacturers?

Thanks!

There was an article in CWB last month about this Co.

Thanks for the feedback.  Are you saying that Southern Custom Doors manufactures the doors I saw at Volunteer Lumber?  Either way, I like what I saw at Southern Custom.  Thanks!

Craftsmen In Wood, Phoenix, AZ will make you anything you can dream up, in any species available, and factory finish them.  They will come boxed like a piano, including frames if you want them.  Glass, however, is up to you on site.  They do not factory glaze, I believe.

Go to http://www.ciwood.com.  Sales are done by telephone and fax or mail.  No web transactions.

Go to a Borders or Barnes and Noble store and find the "American Bungalow" magazine on the stand.  You will find many sources in there for craftsman-style millwork, furnishings, lighting, and more.  Several door manufacturers advertise in the magazine.

like the sound of your entrance - transom, sidelights etc

don't miss the magic of beveled glass on your itemized check list!

We ordered our front door from this company. Shipped when they said, came well protected, seemed to be a good value, installed for two years no problems.

And I just looked at the edoors website.  Fabulous collection of craftsman style doors, and available in 42 wide.  Forget Craftsmen in Wood.  Go edoors.

Actually "American Bungalow" is where I found this connection. Doors are made by International Door Co. .

If Ibought the door from them it would have cost more than e-doors, at the time shipping was not an additional cost at e-doors.

Thanks for the e-door recommendation.  I like their prices.  If they can do custom, I may pursue this.

    Runner,

I may be breaking the rules her but if you like email me.  I have done several custom doors and can fix you up with custom glass as well.  I have an excellent contact on that.  You can look back thru the archives to approximately June of last year where I posted a set of double doors and transom on a million dollar plus home.  These were done in Mahogany as well.

Not trying to solicit work but since you asked for a source I am responding.

I am located in Northeastern Ohio so I could deliver to you if we get a deal together.

PS.  In the pics you will see blue masking tape around the border of the doors .  It was later removed after finishing

these doors were over ten feet high and ten feet wide with the overall size

    Email me if you like

    Thanks

    Mark

Professor,How could you expect anybody new to find your doors using Prospero's Searchmaybe system?

      Spam it's not, my opinion.
